My name is Maddie Scott. I have a life-long interest in helping people to communicate. I combined my love for other cultures and language to become an English as a Second Language instructor. I received my Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics in 2000 and have taught regularly since then. When my son was born in 2010, I decided to teach him baby sign, and I learned American Sign Language with him by my side. Watching him learn to communicate before being able to verbalize his thoughts was a joy. When we went to the beach in California, my little toddler could not contain his excitement at seeing the ocean and kept signing “More.”
I have worked with children in numerous capacities my whole life: big sister, babysitter, nursery worker, kids’ fitness instructor, and now, mother. I am now combining my love of children and language by teaching parents and children to communicate through ASL.
